I've been asked to paint this for a friend of a friend. It is amazing but huge. Getting this far has taken 2 3hr sessions and there is probably another 3 or 4 sessions left to get it finished.
Update:This Dragon is now up for sale, fully painted- see This Post for more details.
A friend has asked me to put together the new heresy dragon for him so he can paint it for a friend.
I was very keen to get my hands on the kit so I agreed.
I have never put together a better designed and cast kit in the 19 years I've been making models.
there were only two slight mould lines on the 20+ resin parts and every piece fitted where it was supposed to go without force or bad language. Here are some pictures of it very nearly finished.
I've got a little bit of green stuffing joints where the super-glue has forced the joints open a little and some claws to glue on but it should be undercoated by Tuesday.
The kit can be bought from heresy miniatures, there is a waiting list. Join it! you won't be disappointed.
As I'm slowly going through Google reader this morning I read the Games Workshop Whats new today.
Scrolling down I found a familiar looking model.
That looks a lot like my mounted Nurgle sorcerer.
I read the text underneath.
Sometimes even us guys in the web team can forget about a model hidden in the darkest depths of the website, and this was one of them. As soon as I saw Andrew Marshall's Mounted Chaos Sorcerer, I knew I had to show it off, because not only is it an awesome figure, but it's also got a great paint job on him. Andrew used Knarloc Green and Khemri Brown as the basecoat colours for the model, with Tausept Ochre for the freehand. What really interested us though is Andrew's technique for painting rust. He added bicarbonate of soda to Bestial Brown and then washed it with Devlan Mud to give it a gnarly, textured effect (going to have to try that myself now).
It is my mounted Nurgle sorcerer :-)
I'd submitted it ages ago and forgotten about it.
I'm really pleased to see my work recognised like this. It feels sort of like being published.
It was fantastic, I cannot think of a better venue for this event. They have scattered steampunk items through the galleries and around the engines Below is a link to the photos I took.
They were also holding heats of Tea Dueling, I've scanned and uploaded the rule leaflet in case anyone is interested how it's done, I'm off to put the kettle on to practice when I've finished this.
I got soaked on the school run yesterday. In the 10 minute walk home from school we had ½" of rain collect in the cup holder on the pushchair.
Oh well, at least we got dry when we got in.
I've managed to get a bit of a painting mountain. I've got 3 competition level pieces to paint before august.
One for an exchange on Platoon Britannica which will probably be an orc shaman.
One for an exchange on Asrai.org which will probably be a Dwarf
and finally, Eldessa for The golden bat competition at Carpe Noctem, the vampire counts forum.
plus a 28mm WW1 army, a 6mm seeds of war army, a mordheim warband and necromunda scavies.
busy, busy, busy!
On a real plus note, I spoke to Adam's head teacher this morning and asked to make an apointment to see her about his progress and continuing to challenge him with maths and english. After I'd identifyed my self and him, she said "Oh, that Adam, Super Genius Adam!" :-D
Someone else in the playground mentioned Bastille Day so this has been going round my head on the walk home
After posting my WIP shots from yesterday on Platoon Britannica, I was given some useful advice to work on shading with colour theory. Here are some updated shots of Eldessa. I've spotted some errors that need correcting. More tomorrow.
An Empire Landship that I'm working on for a friend of a friend to tabletop +
Here are the first photos of Eldessa which I am planning on entering in Carpe Noctem's golden bat competition I removed the sword she was carrying as I thought it was a little too high fantasy. I've added a spear from the games workshop skeleton warriors
